Road resurfacing along Botfontein Road in Kraaifontein
17 June 2025
Today, 17 June 2025, the City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate commences with roadworks along Botfontein Road between Voortrekker Road and Maroela Road in Kraaifontein. The work will be carried out until Friday, 19 September 2025, between 09:00 and 15:30, Sunday to Friday provided there are no unforeseen delays.
‘The purpose of this project is to resurface Botfontein Road in Wallacedene in Kraaifontein. The work will include the installation of two short sections of stormwater infrastructure, including manholes and new kerb inlets at the lowest point of the road to improve drainage. Isolated relaying of kerbs and channels will also be undertaken to restore proper water flow and structural integrity. This forms part of the City’s regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of our road network and to keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The project will also involve isolated base repairs within the Maroela Street Circle. Construction of gravel shoulders with reclaimed asphalt will be carried out behind the surfaced sidewalk on the northbound lane between Maroela Street and La Boheme Avenue.
Additional works include the re-gravelling of access to the electricity substation, as well as the reinstatement of traffic loops, scoots and magnetometers. The project will conclude with the repainting of all road markings.
Night work at the intersection of Voortrekker and Botfontein Roads is to commence in late August 2025 between 19:00 and 04:30.
